photo by Jonathan CsapoA suspect in Friday evening's assault outside of Ross Hall is led to an awaiting Metropolitan Police Department prisoner transport vehicle.Two suspects were arrested late Friday night on charges of assault after a fight broke out behind the 24th street entrance of the Walter G. Ross Hall, a university spokesperson confirmed to GW-TV. University spokeswoman Michelle Sherrard the altercation occurred between two individuals unaffiliated with GW, and George Washington University Police (UPD) officers were assisting Metropolitan Police with the investigation. Due to the location and nature of the crime, Metropolitan Police are the lead agency in the investigation. Eyewitness reports say that UPD was first on the scene followed closely by the DC Metropolitan Police Department. At least 8 UPD officers were witnessed on site. The DC Metropolitan Police dispatched multiple squad cars and a prisoner transport vehicle to the scene as well. According to Sherrard, two individuals were arrested for the assault. Sherrard said that a GW Alert was not sent to students, because the suspects were quickly apprehended. A request for comment from the Metropolitan Police Department was not immediately returned. |
